The Battle of Culloden happened 16th of April in 1746 in the Scottish Highlands near Inverness. For those who may not have been aware of this turning point in British history, this tragic event was made famous by the books and later the show "Outlander". I believe both my husband and I have ancestors that fought on Culloden field (his helped Bonnie Prince Charles escape!) so it was a very solemn and somewhat haunting experience for us both when we went there at sunset one night, and had the entire place to ourselves so we could truly take it in without distraction or bother.
