Ljubljana, December 7, 2014 – Marko Zidanšek, MSc, was elected President of the SLS at yesterday’s Congress in Podčetrtek. The newly elected vice presidents are Primož Jelševar, Jasmina Opec, who was also a Vice President in the previous term, and Franc Rozman, MSc. The new President of the SLS Head Committee is Igor Draksler, and the President of the SLS Supervisory Committee is Žarko Pregelj.
The delegates decided to reopen the candidacy procedure for the position of president and Vice Presidents SLS at the Congress. Marko Zidanšek's candidacy was put forth with the signatures of 35 delegates. Due to the wide support in the party, he consented to be a candidate. During the candidacy procedure, the presidential candidate Primož Jelševar withdrew his candidacy, so the delegates chose between two candidates for the next president of the SLS, Damjan Medved and Marko Zidanšek, MSc.

“First of all, I would like to thank everyone for their trust. Thank you, president Franc Bogovič, for all of the work you have done, and thank you, everybody, who has worked for the SLS all of this time, who built it. The only way to continue building it is together,” said Marko Zidanšek, MSc, in his speech when the results of the vote were announced. He also congratulated all of the newly elected SLS office-bearers. He emphasised the importance of integrative work within the party and invited everybody, who was elected, and everybody, who works for the party, to remain an integrative part of the party’s future work, which will bring good results. He added_ “Our lives within the party are one thing, and the work we do for the country is another. In the latter, the most important thing to do is to keep creating new jobs. They are the only thing that creates an added value and enables social transfers. I am certain that we are going to focus on the future together, because our solutions lie in the future. We live in the here and now, and we will live in the future. The people expect from us solutions for the future.”
